On 14 March 2019 the Belgian All.Can initiative held its launch event in Brussels.
The primary goal of the event was to bring together all stakeholders related to cancer care with an open dialogue. A dynamic group of speakers and panellists emphasised the initiative’s focus on efficiency and sustainability through innovative patient-centred cancer care. They also reinforced All.Can Belgium’s key policy messages by highlighting the need for a multidisciplinary approach in cancer care, as we can only advance if we all work together in one direction. It was made clear that patients are the co-pilots of their own treatment and follow-up, and that patient involvement demands a long-term strategy and is not just a one-shot exercise.
The importance of digitisation and technological improvement was another core topic during the event. As countless new technologies continue to be developed, it will be very important to be prepared and enter the discussion: which data to collect and share, what (personal) information to receive, and what choices should be possible.
